Chain Reaction is a unique and challenging project based on a very simple idea - that none of us on our own can change the world, not governments, not businesses, not charities. We succeed when we work together

Our beliefs
In every community around the world, there are individuals and organisations who are saying "we can build a better world", shaping new ways of living and working and inspiring others through their ideas and their actions.

Our Mission
We have established Chain Reaction to support this effort - to connect people together, to provide spaces - in the real world and on line - in which people can collaborate with others across the boundaries that divide us and commit their energy to new ideas and new ways of working that will change the world.

Who should be part of Chain Reaction?
Chain Reaction is for social leaders. Social leaders are people who:
- Work in any sector, in any place
- Work across boundaries and barriers (geographical, sectoral, age etc)
- Work together to solve problems, recognising the strengths of others and building confidence and capacity everywhere
- Work from a base of shared values

Our supporters
In July 2007, the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, announced "we will support the development of an annual global forum on social leadership which will meet each year to inspire debate, forge links between activists and stimulate the pursuit of social change". This initiative, which is now known as 'Chain Reaction', forms part of the programme of the Prime Minister's Council on Social Action.

Who is behind Chain Reaction?
Chain Reaction is a project of Community Links - an innovative community organisation based in east London. We pioneer new ideas and new ways of working locally and we share the learning nationally and internationally; generating practical social action in other communities, engaging a wide range of partners and influencing government policy.
